Effects of synesthesia on memory
Having synesthesia may help you remember details or memorize information. The mental associations act as natural mnemonic devices, in some cases making memorization intuitive and even giving people a photographic memory.
If you do not have synesthesia, you can improve your memory by forming other types of mental associations. For example, if you enjoy watching sports, then use the numbers of players on your favorite sports team as a mnemonic device to help you remember phone and account numbers. You can also try to develop your own mental associations that mimic synesthesia.
