Seeking therapy or medical treatment
If you want to see a therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist, do not be afraid. In many cases it turns out to be very helpful. Remember, though, that it is not helpful in every case.
Choose a social worker and/or doctor who brings out your positive, creative qualities. There are many mental health professionals who will make you feel hopelessly caught up in your disorder and labeled; be sure that the person(s) you are seeing have a positive impact on you.
If therapy or medical treatment is not helping you or is making you feel worse, do not be afraid to stop. You can always return if you wish.
